Postcard Geography

As a way to help us learn more about the states in the five regions of our country, we have joined a postcard exchange group in which we swap postcards with over 200 classrooms (grades 3-5) across the United States.

Before we begin the project, we are completing a social studies unit during which we are learning about the City of Troy.  We want to learn as much as we can about the history of Troy, Troy's City Government, Troy's demographics, Troy businesses,  and Troy Schools.  Students took cameras home to capture their own favorite "Troy Hot Spots" to include in the informational message we composed on the postcards that we created to exchange with the other schools.

Click on the pictures below to check out the Troy postcard we created last year!

We love getting postcards from around the country and are learning so much about many different towns and cities across the United States.  Click on the postcards below for a larger view.

Check Back Often for New Postcards!

We pinpoint all places from which we receive postcards on a map in the hallway.

We graph the number of postcards we receive from each region of the United States.
