Our class took part in a national service project where students create "hope chests" for children in hospitals, foster homes, or homeless shelters.  Each student brought 3-5 items (small toys, art supplies, books, etc.) with which to fill ten shoeboxes that we decorated in class.  Students also created personalized cards to include in the shoeboxes especially for the child who would be receiving the gift.  Our holiday hope chests were delivered to Children's Hospital of Michigan.

Students made festive cards and decorated the outside of their Holiday Hope Chests before filling them with the items that they bought for the hospitalized children.

Once the boxes were decorated, students added a tag to indicate whether it was for a boy or a girl.
