On Wednesday, May 23rd, we welcomed our grandparents and other special guests to our classroom. They spent the entire morning with us and learned what it was like to be a part of Rockin' Room 13. They tried out some math, helped us checkout books in the new media center, and we even interviewed them to find out what life and school were like when they were in third grade. We ended the morning with an informal music performance, and they even got to eat lunch with us in the cafeteria! Check out the pictures below to see what fun we had!

| When our guests arrived, we greeted them and gave them a tour of our classroom. Mrs. Newingham also took pictures of all students with their special guests. |

Time to eat! Donuts, muffins, fresh fruit, and juice were enjoyed by all as the guests settled in and took their seats by the students' desks. |
|
Our guests joined us in doing our
morning work, Excel math. We taught them how to do the lesson, and our
guests learned that we are pretty smart! Click here to see more pictures of students & their guests working on Excel Math. |

We introduced our guests to the rest of the visitors and announced where they live. Some guests live in Troy, while others traveled from out of state! |
| We even got to take our special guests to the new Media Center where they helped us check out books and use the computers in the lab. |

Finally we got to interview our grandparents. We asked them questions about what life and school were like when they were in elementary school. (They got bonus points if they could remember the name of their third grade teacher.) We will now be writing short articles about what we learned about our guests. Download the Interview Questions

After we finished our interviews, we
shared some of the most interesting things we learned about our guests with
the entire group. Can you believe that movie tickets were only 25¢ and
gas was only 15¢ a gallon when some of our grandparents were our age? Click here to see students interviewing their special guests! |

It was fun to sing some of our International songs for our guests in the cafeteria before we ate lunch. We sounded great! |
| We topped the morning off with lunch in the Hill cafeteria. We were lucky because it was pizza day! Our guests joined us in the lunch line and then stayed to eat with us at the cafeteria tables. |

Some guests opted to pack a lunch and other special guests even went out to recess with us after we finished eating! |
| We are now writing news articles using the information we learned about our guests during our interviews. All of the completed articles will be put together in a newspaper and mailed to the guests at their homes along with thank you notes from the students. |
