We celebrate Dental Health Month by inviting Mrs. Newingham's husband to our classroom to teach us more about taking care of our teeth. To make his visit educational and entertaining, he hosts a dental game show that we call "Totally Terrific Tooth Trivia." Students answer questions and learn how to keep their teeth clean and healthy.

Dr. J (Justin) helped
us learn more about our teeth by playing "Totally Terrific Tooth Trivia," a
game show similar to Jeopardy. Categories included
Brushing, Flossing,
Tell the Tooth, Tooth Trivia, and Dental Facts.

During the game,
each team was allowed to answer every question. After discussing the
question and agreeing upon an answer, one team member held up the letter
corresponding to the right answer on a dry-erase "Tooth paddle"
made
especially for Totally Terrific Tooth Trivia.

To teach students how
to floss teeth correctly, Dr. J used a jump rope as the floss , red paper
as the gums, and
students to act as teeth. He used a broom to show students the
proper technique for brushing, and students again acted as the teeth.

After learning that
they should change their toothbrush every 3 months, Dr. J. gave each
student a new toothbrush. The students of Team Newingham gave our
special guest an over-sized toothbrush signed by every student in the
class.
