After reading books
like A Quiet Place, and The Best Place to Read, students selected places in the classroom
that felt "just right" for independent reading time.
During Independent Reading, students
can choose where they want to read. We call their reading spots
"book nooks."
Since the couch, the chair pillows,
the dish chairs, and the bean bag are popular places to read, we have a "book nook"
rotation chart that is changed by the classroom librarian each day after
reading workshop is over.
