We had the best day yet in second grade!  On our 100th day of school,  we did so many fun activities to celebrate the special occasion!

When we first arrived, Miss Albery played fun celebration music in our classroom.  Our door was decorated for the big day!  We wrote in our journals about what we would wish for if we could have 100 of anything in the world.

We found party bags on our desks with 100-shaped sunglasses, a 100 Days bookmark, a 100 Days pencil, a 100 Days bracelet, 100 Days stickers, and a 100 dollar bill (not real of course.)

Next, we each came up with 100 things we are thankful for.  Miss Albery and Banjo the Bear also came up with five things, so together we made a class book of the 100 things for which we are most thankful.
In math, we counted out 100 of a variety of snacks that Miss Albery brought to school.  We decided that the best way to make sure that we each put 100 snacks in our baggie was to sort by groups of 10.

Then we weighed each bag of goodies to determine which bag of 100 things weighed the most.  We couldn’t believe the weight of the gumdrops!  They weighed the most at 330 grams, and the cheerios weighed the least at 15 grams.  We graphed our results.
We each got to pick 100 of the goodies we weighed to create our own 100 Day Trail Mix.  This was the yummiest part of the day!

After lunch, we drew pictures of what we will look like if we live to be 100 years old. We also wrote about where we will live, what we will like to do, and what kind of family we will have.  Our pictures looked very silly!
After recess, we got to go on a pretend shopping spree at Toys “R” Us.  Miss Albery gave us a 100 dollar bill, and we visited the Toys “R” Us website.  We kept a log of each item we decided to buy as we shopped.  Some of us decided to spend our money on one expensive item, and others bought many smaller items.  We learned a lot about being safe on the Internet, and we practiced math at the same time.

We ended the day with a great class picture wearing our funny 100-Day sunglasses.  We couldn’t believe it was almost time to go home!  It was certainly a day we will never forget!
